April NPD: Xbox 360 Tops Hardware Charts Again, Wii Sales Plummet
by May 12, 2011 @ 6:52 pm

Microsoft continued its chart-topping streak in April, with sales tracking firm NPD reporting today that 297,000 Xbox 360 units were sold last month. In terms of unit sales, Sony trailed its nearest competitor — yet still delivered a respectable showing with 204,300 units sold.
On the whole, industry sales were up 20 percent over last year. Despite this, Wii sales plummeted down to 172,000 units, representing a 38 percent drop over last month. Likely, sales will pick up this month with the recent price cut that went into effect.
