Grand Theft Auto IV To Feature Open Ended World, 16-player Multi

by Mike Bendel on October 16, 2007 @ 1:49 pm

The crew over at GamingExcellence recently caught up with a Rockstar PR rep during the PlayStation Holiday Preview Event in Toronto, Canada and were told that GTA IV will break away from the series’ tradition of having certain areas and locations blocked off until certain story missions are completed. In other words: the entire game is planned to be open-ended.

Secondly, the site also managed to extract more information from this particular PR rep about GTA IV’s multiplayer aspect, which has now been revealed to support up to 16-players in various multiplayer modes.

Sounds like Rockstar is putting a lot of effort in the multiplayer mode, I wonder what kind of multiplayer games we’ll have to choose from, aside from the usual deathmatch affair.

That's a start, but keep in mind. I am coming from the gta-sa community, which allows the same thing.. but up to 100 players plus at a given time.

IMHO this should have been something that should have been offered a long LONG time ago.
