PSN Blackout: Sony Has Yet To Determine If Credit Card Information Was Stolen

With the PSN out of commission due to a ‘external intrusion,’ many are wondering if personal details tied to PSN accounts are safe.

Responding to concerns, Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson Satoshi Fukuoka told PC World that the company “has not yet determined” the exact nature of the breach. As such, it cannot confirm if personal information or credit card details were compromised during the attack.

If it’s any reassurance, Fukuoka did note that Sony would inform customers promptly if it discovers account information was compromised.

Meanwhile, in today’s PS Blog update, SCEA spokesperson Patrick Seybold had no further details to share about the ongoing investigation, calling the effort to rebuild PSN a “time intensive process.” We’re still in the dark regarding an ETA, too.

“I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time,” read the statement.
