Resident Evil Producer: RE6 A ‘Complete Reinvention On Every Level’

This may be good or bad news depending on your enjoyment level of RE5, as Resident Evil: Raccoon City producer Masachika Kawata recently told MarcaPlayer in an interview that RE6 will mark a ‘complete reinvention’ of the series.

Apparently, Capcom isn’t even sure if they’ll stick to the survival horror genre or go for a more action-oriented experience, the latter of which RE5 seemed to embrace. This suggests the title is early in development, too.

The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can’t forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise.

I think Resident Evil 5 took the Gears inspiration a little too far. A return to the series’ roots would be welcomed.

i felt the same way after re5. i enjoyed the game for what it was, but it didnt really feel like a "resident evil" game. the things that made me love re1 and re2 are no longer present. that being said, "reinvention" doesnt really sound like the series is going back to its roots :\

i have to agree with you as well, RE5 didn't really seem like it was an horror game.

as well i wonder what plot line they could do now though(umbrella's gone, wesker's dead) granted the virus is still on the black market, but i can't imagine the next installment is going to tie in with the older RE storyline(also, hope Clair is a playable character as well).

I hope the stay with the survival horror style, RE5 was ok but didn't feel like a RE.

Same here, i much preferred the old style RE games, even down to the tank controls and camera angles. I have just bought RE on PSN and i never seem to get bored with that game.

Re5 (re4 to some extent) were more like Gears of War or something, I liked them both but they did not really feel like RE games (more 5 than 4 admittedly)
