Rumor: Perfect Dark 2, Microsoft’s Next “Killer App”

by Mike Bendel on October 15, 2007 @ 10:37 am

According to a report from Indian gaming site GameGuru, sources have indicated that Joanna Dark will soon return in Perfect Dark 2 for the Xbox 360. The story is said to be much darker this time around, with “tints of grey” surrounding all of the main characters. Additionally, the graphics engine is expected to be fully real-time, free of any cutscenes, along with a unique morality system allowing for multiple story branches depending on your in-game actions.

Perfect Dark Zero didn’t exactly live up to the original for most, but Guru believes that Rare will return to its former glory with the release of Perfect Dark 2.

An announcement is expected in the latter part of next year.

Uhh... didn't the first perfect dark suck? What makes them think it's going to be their next killer app?

x3sphere says:

Well Rare made two Perfect Dark games. The first was for N64, which was an AWESOME game, and is considered to be one of the best console FPS games ever. Second was PDZ... which was considerably worse.

Given the success of the N64 Perfect Dark, they are probably thinking Rare can reach that level again.

Cheezeball99 says:

But the problem is that most of the devs that worked on the original for the N64 moved to the team that went on to create the Timesplitters games... Which, IMO, you can taste the PD in, at least Timesplitters 2.
