The countdown on Valve’s Aperture Science page that was discovered through a seemingly endless string of ARGs has come to a close, revealing an interesting twist: a “GLaDOS@Home” page that’s counting down to the Portal 2 launch. In a nod to Stanford University’s Folding@Home initiative, you can help speed up the launch process by playing any of the games featured in Valve’s indie-fueled Potato Sack promotion.

As of writing, there are around 17,117 CPUs joining in on the effort, and the page has been up for less than an hour. If enough people join in, Portal 2 could be unlocked early on PC. You have to admit, this is a pretty clever stunt. Then again, we’d expect nothing less from Valve!
