GameStop Lays Stake On Digital Distribution Market, Acquires Impulse

Despite GameStop’s massive retail presence, they’ve been nothing more than a blip on the digital distribution side of the business, a segment that’s been experiencing rapid growth as of late. Going forward, the company is making strides to bolster its digital image, starting with the acquisition of Impulse. The service, currently owned by Stardock, is expected to exchange hands in May.

By way of an FAQ posted over on Stardock’s site, the company expects the transition to be transparent to end users. It anticipates “no disruption in service to existing or newly created accounts.” Additionally, “Impulse will continue to function as normal for existing and new customers. Your current purchases will continue to be available through Impulse, Inc.”
