Nintendo is sticking to its glasses-free mantra for the foreseeable future, with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime telling CNN that the company’s next offering in the home console space will likely not incorporate 3D.

We’ve not said publicly what the next thing for us will be in the home console space, but based on what we’ve learned on 3-D, likely, that won’t be it.

Nintendo’s reluctance towards glasses-based 3D comes as little surprise with the emergence of the 3DS. At any rate, we’re intrigued to see what the company comes up with as a major selling point this time around. Creating a successor to a console as innovative as the Wii is no easy feat.
