While Nintendo’s mammoth press briefing today was largely focused on upcoming Wii games and accessories, Nintendo did manage to sneak in one big announcement for the Nintendo DS.

That’s right, the next installment in Nintendo’s acclaimed Fire Emblem RPG series is slated to hit the dual-screen portable. Details are scarce, but the game appears to be a remake of the original Famicom game, Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Tsurugi, and is expected to hit Japan in 2008.
