Capcom: High PS3 Development Costs Reason For Wii Switch

I’ll admit, the news of Monster Hunter 3 going Wii exclusive was quite a shocker. Monster Hunter is a multi-million dollar franchise in Japan, right up there with the likes of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. In fact, the PSP installment was the first game on Sony’s portable handheld to sell over one million copies.

So why has Monster Hunter moved from its home, the PlayStation, to Wii? According to Capcom’s managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii, high PlayStation 3 development costs prompted the move.

Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title.
