Monster Hunter 3 Invades Wii

by Mike Bendel on October 10, 2007 @ 10:02 am

Capcom announced today an exclusive deal with Nintendo to publish the third installment in its ever-popular Monster Hunter 3 for Wii. Monster Hunter 3 will utilize the unique aspects of the Nintendo Wii, such as waggle and motion controls, to create a Monster Hunter game “unlike any of its predecessors.”

Beyond that, no further details were given. But I have to say I am surprised, Nintendo getting Monster Hunter is huge. The Wii is seemingly unstoppable in Japan, and now it has another multi-million seller title under its belts.

Capcom unleashes the beast as “Monster Hunter 3 (tri-)” rumbles its way onto the Nintendo Wii®

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce the development of a new edition in its mega-hit “Monster Hunter” series: “Monster Hunter 3 (tri-)” for the Nintendo Wii.

The “Monster Hunter” franchise is a series of action games that puts the player in the boots of a fearless hunter tracking down and battling huge and ferocious monsters all while traversing breathtaking natural environments. To date, the series has shipped over 4.5 million copies worldwide (as of September 30, 2007). The “Monster Hunter Freedom” series for the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system (referred to below as the PSP® system) makes use of Network Play to build upon the gaming experience, which has boosted its popularity, especially in the student market, and has also helped to make it the first PSP® game to sell over a million copies in Japan. The series has also been the recipient of numerous awards with “Monster Hunter” for the PlayStation®2 receiving the Award of Excellence at the Eighth Annual CESA Game Awards and “Monster Hunter Freedom 2″ receiving the Grand Award at the Japan Game Awards: 2007.

Capcom has worked tirelessly on the latest title in the series, “Monster Hunter 3 (tri-)”, to utilize the unique aspects of the Nintendo Wii, which will create a “Monster Hunter” game unlike any of its predecessors. The attractiveness of the Wii experience is sure not only to please existing fans of the series, but also attract newcomers to this unique adventure.

As always, we at Capcom will continue to strive to develop new and original games that appeal to a broad audience around the world while expanding our properties for multiple platforms. We believe that by bringing the “Monster Hunter” series to multiple platforms, it will help the franchise reach an even greater number of users eager for its unique gameplay.

This is absolute bull**** Sony makes them a hit and they go leave ship when it costs to much f u monster hunter if u dont come out for ps3

Cheezeball99 says:

Now, see, I disagree; They didn't make them a hit... They're CAPCOM for cryin' out loud- THEY made themselves a hit and chose to grace Sony's platform with it's presence. :p

Junit says:

lol , I thought I was a die hard fanboy

shadowforte says:

I agree with your disagreement. And I think this is a good move. They should move the MH games to Wii, DS and 360. The PS3 is just not pushing it.

canadajames says:

I think it be great on all the console but to deprive sony of this after making the series a hit is what i meant is stupid I just really love this game is why I'm so pissed off.

Junit says:

Capcom should make it for the 360 , running the engine of DR or LP , seriously .. Xbox live and everything >_> whatevs capcom ;p

shadowforte says:

canada: Buy a Wii. Why not, I mean Smash is coming out and all.

canadajames says:

I was really really thinking of it but I need some mula I might get some money from modding some peeps systems and stuff but mostly i need a job which is why I need a good resume and some time:( which is annoying to write. I hate how smash got delayed too :( Also the reason being high development costs like cmon how can capcom say cost is too high when they are one of the most succesful companies in gaming.

Cheezeball99 says:

I completely agree with that, CJ. They can afford it, I'm sure it's no problem for Capcom, that does sound like an excuse on their part:p And it's cool, I'd be pissed off if I were you too, I just personally never really got into the MH series.

x3sphere says:

Personally I'm not a fan of the MH series... the gameplay is slow paced and you're often faced with tasks like finding certain items and such.

Would be fun to play online though... I have no idea why Capcom didn't add infrastructure support in either of the PSP games. Hopefully MH3 will include online play.

canadajames says:

It's why I wanna try the Xlink kai thing for psp but by the time i figured it out and all new psp would be out :) i mean like number 2

Junit says:

Me either , I never really liked them either , sure it was fun on the psp but I never liked it
