Bungie Beta Tester Invites Go Out

by Mike Bendel on March 10, 2011 @ 1:14 pm

You may recall that Bungie issued a call last November to fans interested in taking on beta testing assignments. We’ve received word from various reports on forums that the first wave of emails went out this week, formally inviting users to become a “official member of the Bungie Beta Tester program.”

As far as we can tell, the email that’s making the rounds is merely to confirm acceptance, nothing terribly exciting. However,  it denotes that users that sign-up will have a chance to take part in future surveys and “in-person research studies,” which you know, probably include going hands-on with Bungie’s post-Halo title.

At some point, perhaps during a profound lapse in judgment, you checked a box on Bungie.net and asked to become a Bungie Beta Tester. Today, we present your first challenge. Click the sign up link below, fill out all the questions, and become an official member of the Bungie Beta Tester program.

“Bungie Beta Testers help us make Bungie games great. It might be as simple as answering a few questions or you might be asked to take part in an in-person research study. No matter how you help out, rest assured that we’ll find a way to say “thanks.” Now, do your worst.

I got one...

They sent it at 1:30am GMT. I tried to use the Sign Up link at 8:30am, got this:

:(

FrozenIpaq says:

I received one as well and attempted to sign up one minute after...survey wasn't up at that time either nor any other time I checked so I couldn't even get a look at what it was about

El Xando says:

Wow... Perhaps they sent it to literally everyone who ticked the checkbox, and only the first ridiculously quick people got in :S

slicer4ever says:

first come, first serve then

Abe Froeman says:

I answered like 5 of the questions in the survey and then got that error message about a minute after receiving the email.

El Xando says:

Definitely sounds like first come, first serve then. I hope next time I get an email it's actually at a decent GMT time :P

Abe Froeman says:

I got the email on March 8, 9:14 PM my time.

El Xando says:

I got it March 9, 1:15am at first according to GMail. I was asleep :P

FrozenIpaq says:

Ah I got it at 10:22 PM your/my time so that explains why the second after I got the e-mail it was down even though I thought it was just sent out

Abe Froeman says:

One of the questions was if you worked in the gaming industry and a bunch of demographic ones. They also asked about your weekly time spent gaming and what devices you used, etc.

slicer4ever says:

weird that they'd keep sending out emails if the system was down/closed, even automated you'd think they'd shut it off

El Xando says:

Maybe they sent them all at the same time and they took a while to come through?

Ah, fair enough. Hopefully some of us get in next time they email us :)

FrozenIpaq says:

Sounds like there's still a selection process after the survey to become a beta tester judging on the "work in game industry" and "hours played" questions.

Robby says:

Yeah I signed up for it a couple hours after I got the email on the 8th I think.

TeamOverload says:

Same here and I had no issues. We'll see what comes of it.
