It’s been around three months since the initial launch of Microsoft’s body controlled motion sensor Kinect and momentum is strong as ever. The company announced today that unit sales have surpassed the 10 million mark worldwide. In addition, more than 10 million copies of Kinect-capable software have been sold.
What’s more, is that Guinness World Records is heralding Kinect as the “fastest-selling consumer electronics device.” Microsoft shifted an average of 133,333 Kinect units per day in its first 60 days on the market, spanning November 4, 2010 to January 3, 2011
“The sales figures here speak for themselves,” said Gaz Deaves, Gaming Editor for Guinness World Records. “According to independent research, no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, which is an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector.”
