by Mike Bendel on October 9, 2007 @ 9:42 am

BOOSTER sent word today that he has released a software development kit for creating a custom PSP IPL. The SDK provides developers with a base set of code that will run independent of Sony’s PSP firmware.

I'm an idiot because I have NO idea what this even is, does, or means.Sounds intresting though.

x3sphere says:

The IPL is essentially the PSP's boot ROM. The PSP loads up the IPL before it actually starts the firmware. So with this SDK, developers can now compile code that will run at boot time, just like the Pandora IPL.

Theroretically it means someone could code an OS totally independent of the official firmware. Would be a lot of work though.
