We know the 40GB PlayStation 3 model is heading stateside soon, but when? According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the 40GB PS3 model will hit North American shores as early as November 2, citing one “major retailer” as the source.

Specs are said to be the same as the UK version, with two USB ports instead of four, no backward compatibility with PS2 games and no memory card port.

bad move for sony. It should still maintain compatibility with the reduced version.

I think it's a good choice the price difference is about the same as what you can get a ps2 for not that thats the reason for the drop but if you already have a ps2 why not get a version with no ps2 stuff basically everyone buying ps3s are people who had ps2's, who want multimedia, or who want a cheap blu-ray ps2 is the last thing on most peoples mind i think.
