Remedy: Alan Wake PC Cancellation ‘Wasn’t Our Call’

While the release of Alan Wake signaled a shift in priorities at Finnish developer Remedy, focusing solely on Xbox 360 development, the company has said it wasn’t their call. Refraining to delve into specifics, company boss Markus Maki suggests that Microsoft forced their hand, telling CVG that the move was not down to tech, nor was it made in Finland:

I can’t really discuss that. I will say that it wasn’t a technological call. And it wasn’t made in Finland.

It’s puzzling, really. A title like Alan Wake, backed by Remedy’s pedigree on PC, would’ve sold quite well we reckon. At the same time, Microsoft wants Games for Windows Live to compete with services like Steam, yet instead they decide to hold back titles for Xbox 360 exclusivity. Why not offer perks similar to Valve’s recent Portal 2 initiative, in which PS3 owners receive free access to its PC counterpart?
