One of the more notable features Nintendo has announced for 3DS was the prospect of a portable Virtual Console. While we already know that Game Boy and Game Boy Color offerings on are the way “soon,” they’ll be joined by titles from platforms other than Nintendo’s own. Company president Satoru Iwata revealed that TurboGrafx-16 and Game Gear classics are en route to 3DS at his GDC keynote this week.

While Nintendo isn’t ready to pin down specific dates, it looks like the wait won’t be long, as Sega noted in a separate announcement that it plans to release five Game Gear gems on the eShop this May.
