Dead Island Resurfaces In New Trailer

by Mike Bendel on February 16, 2011 @ 2:15 pm

Initially announced in 2007, Techland’s Dead Island has returned, with an all-new trailer to boot. IGN has the exclusive on a preview, calling it a “first-person zombie-slasher/action-RPG” set on a luxurious island overrun by bloodthirsty zombies. As foreboding as the premise sounds, it looks glorious.

The game places a heavy emphasis on survival and melee combat. More often than not, players will use blunt instruments such as a broken pipe or axe to fend off zombies. And, as far as we can glean from the just-released trailer and screenshots, it seems to carry a more dark and serious tone compared to other contenders in this genre. Hit the break for a glimpse.

Dead Island is due out on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC later this year.

Now THAT is a beautiful game trailer. Looks like something I'd enjoy. Although I wonder if it'll be designed around multiplayer like Left 4 Dead or more so single-player like Resident Evil or Silent Hill.

looks pretty awesome, now can someone just upload the video playing in reverse?=-)

and now seeing it reverses clearly shows that the video has an order, but it's cut up and some parts are reversed, pretty unique way to show a trailer

*now waits for someone to upload the video cut together correctly*

also, is this a console game, or pc only, or on all platforms?

edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktT9DXs88HA <-- linear cut

also, i wonder if that's fully pre-rendered, or in game scripted scene, the graphic's are extremely top notch to call it a pre-render, but some of the elements(glass broken/fire on the guy outside) look like in-game engine

FrozenIpaq says:

Believe it's pre-rendered, graphics won't look as good as this trailer but they should come close in-game
