Source: Halo Remake Inbound for Fall

by Mike Bendel on February 4, 2011 @ 10:06 am

So much for not jumping on the HD re-release bandwagon, it seems. Gaming site Joystiq is reporting that a spruced-up remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved is due out later this fall, November 15 to be exact. To Microsoft’s credit, the revamp is not a mere HD makeover with upscaled assets, it boasts all-new art.

Reportedly, Saber Interactive is handling development duties under close guidance of 343 Industries — Microsoft’s top-tier Halo dev, assembled amid Bungie’s departure. 343 is also working on a next-gen Halo effort, as numerous job listings have hinted at.

The release date of November 15 is fitting, given that same month marks Halo’s tenth anniversary as a franchise.

can't wait. Hope they have multi player with it to

Andy says:

This is awesome, I hope they don't change it too much though.

Trigun says:

My guess would be updating it to bring it in line with Halo Reach. Which is understandable.

Of course, I can wish all I want that they'd update it with tons of novel references. But I doubt that will happen

PR0fessor Burnt says:

as long as they dont add abilities and shit im fine with what ever they do

Josey Wales says:

Isnt the original Halo not that far off from recent graphics?

El Xando says:

Same, it would be silly for them to make it without multiplayer...

Same, though the magnum may not be super powerful :P

Hopefully they're not making it too much like Halo Reach...

Trigun says:

Halo Reach from the perspective of a fan of the Halo Universe from the Novels, comics and everything else(and been playing since the original) despite it not being what I'd like it to be and some kind of irritating contradictions, it is easily the best Halo game.

It has the best gameplay, presentation, graphics and story (Considering all of the Novel References that made me extremely giddy)of them all.

that's just my opinion.

However.

What I meant by making it like reach , was updating the Art Style to be in line with Halo Reach. Which had an absolutely amazing art style that perfectly fit the Halo Universe.

Still, Halo 1 holds up especially well when AFx16 is forced. It doesn't support AA but that's alright.

Just look how nice it holds up on PC

(Supposed to be 1600x900 but Keeps getting re-sized, but just look how nice the textures look)

slicer4ever says:

i knew this would happen=-), i'll defiantly be picking this up, keep it the same, but spice up the graphics, improve the AI, and i'll buy this on the 15th, hope that halo 2 gets the same treatment in the near-future as well.

Zero says:

I expected a fan made remake in the Source engine, :(.

It will have multiplayer. The original PC version did have it after all.

El Xando says:

Well I've never read any of the novels and started with Halo 3 myself, but I find Reach to be horrible... I've played them all now, and I think Halo 3 is probably the best (though I did play it solidly for about 2 years). Halo Reach has a horrible ranking system which you get no kind of penalisation for leaving games and it's impossible to tell how good someone is from it, armour abilities are nasty, bloom is horrible :P
