Dead Space A Possibility for NGP, Says Visceral

Adding to the list of big-name franchises that may make the jump to portable format, developer Visceral Games has expressed interest in bringing its delightfully horrific Dead Space universe to Sony’s upcoming NGP (PSP2). Speaking to CVG, art director Ian Milham said he was “absolutely interested” in bringing the franchise over.

At the same time, however, he was keen to note that Visceral is not in the business of doing quick, cash-in ports just for sake of bolstering sales. If Dead Space makes the jump, it would be a wholly original effort, created specifically for NGP. We can’t argue with that.

Further, he pointed to Dead Space Extraction, which relied on the Wii’s strengths to deliver a compelling experience.

“When we did Dead Space Extraction it was a quality game that uses and plays to the Wii’s strengths, which is the same as the movies and comic books,” noted Milham.

“They’re not just tie-ins, they do a great job at whatever that particular media does.”
