As promised, Dark_AleX has rolled out the 1.50 kernel add-on for custom firmware 3.71 M33. By installing the add-on, users can run 1.50 kernel homebrew on a regular PSP running 3.71 M33 without the need of eLoader.

It is important to note, however, that the add-on will not work on PSP Slim units, since the hardware is incompatible with the 1.50 kernel.

Instructions:

- Copy the directory UPDATE to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE.
- Get Sony 1.50 update and copy it to the root with name “150.PBP”
- Run the program and done.

Notes:

- This program is only for PSP fat. The program will reject PSP slim, due to the 1.50 kernel
not working on it.

Wow that was fast,thx alot,i hope i'll install it w\out problems ;)

Hanzo_f19 says:

thanks, DAX, really good and fast!all homebrew work now!

I have one question: why some plugins don't work?

x3sphere says:

Probably because those plugins were written specifically for the 3.5X kernel. They will have to be updated for 3.71 M33.

Hanzo_f19 says:

thanks for the answer, x3.

homn says:

In the readme.txt, the part with the ''- Get sony 1.50 update and copy it to the root with name "150.PBP"'' that is X:/ not X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE, right?

x3sphere says:

Yes it is X:/

shadowthor says:

The kernel patch works great :D.

pepsihojo says:

I upgraded with the patch, and now I can't play any ps1 games at all.

tried moving them around into different folders(game,game371,game150)no luck they start to load and stop at a blank black screen.

any help would be very helpful.

thanks

Fadil says:

Thanks Dark~Alex coming back as M33.And the CFW's (OE & M33)

ultragoregrind says:

thank you DAX!!!!!!!!

Gwapingn8 says:

hello all!

first and foremost...

i am glad to know that Dax is back, and in fact

was M33 all along.. got us tricked, at least most of us.

anyways, it felt wrong to use m33, but once i found out that it was Dax, i was like, hey that's nice.

so after reading here and there, i decided to give it a try and upgrade all the way up to

3.71 M33

i was on 3.40 oea, and have upgraded from 3.52 M33, then 3.52 M33-4... then to this 3.71 M33 as i read through some threads. Mostly posted by the ever so dependable "x3sphere"... and u should be thanked for all the hard work u put up on all this threads. thanks dude!

now i'm on 3.71 M33.. then i got stuck.

on this thread I followed exactly what it said.

to put the Update on "PSP/GAME/UPDATE" and put the 150.PBP inside that as well. but once i load the file i get this...

"incorrect or inexistent 150PBP at root"

then it reboots the psp.... am i doing something wrong.

note: i used the same 150.pbp that i used on updating to 3.52 M33...

anybody help? thanks

x3sphere says:

Yeah, the 150.PBP is to be placed on the memory stick root (i.e. X:/), not in the UPDATE folder.

RJC4LIFE says:

Is anything removed to make space for this? Will I be able to use IrShell again? If not I may not need this..but would like to thank DaX for it..

:wub:MC..

gnuwolf says:

Sorry i'm just a noob. Where can i get the 150.PBP? Can anyone post a link? TIA! :)

x3sphere says:

RJC4LIFE: Yeah the GAME150 version of iRShell should work. Location Free Player and korean fonts are removed when applying the patch.

gnuwolf: Here is a link to the 150.PBP - http://72.29.74.204/~exophase/external/150.PBP

RJC4LIFE says:

Look around..check some topics. Official Eboot Topics. Someone please respond so I'll know if I can update with this..

gnuwolf says:

x3sphere: Thanks for your help! Appreciate it!

RJC4LIFE says:

Thanks as always X3sphere!! Time to update.

Gwapingn8 says:

i'm going to try that now x3sphere

Gwapingn8 says:

GREAT!!! it works... thanks for the help x3sphere..

and thanks for all the hard work to the guys at M33... esp. Mr. Dax.

just 2 quick questions,

i am currently checking out the Recovery menu.

there are quite new stuff in here.

1) what does HARD Reset on homebrew allows you to do if it's enabled..

and lastly.. 2) UMD Mode... which one is the best to use? M33's version I would assume.

that would be it.. thanks All

Doubleagent74 says:

I installed the kernel add-on following the instructions, but I have two problems:

1) My 1.5 homebrew doesn't seem to work; when I try to start one, the PSP splash screen appears, the screen goes black for a few seconds, and then my PSP shuts itself off. I've tried using both kernel settings in the Recovery menu, but neither of them work. I also tried eLoader, but neither of the two HB's I use (Doom and SNESxtyl) are compatible. Would moving them to X:\PSP\GAME fix the problem, or should I try something else?

2) My PSP doesn't seem to remember any of my settings when I shut it off and reboot it. It automatically loads the UMD I have in the drive when I boot it, and it always reverts to the default background rather than the one I picked. Is this a bug or a user error?

BTW, I'm using a phat PSP with a TA-79/81 mobo.

Gwapingn8: Personally, I always leave the UMD mode set to "UMD required" because there are some games that need to have a disc in the PSP in order to work. This way, I have one less thing to worry about.

Gwapingn8 says:

Doubleagent74, you're right, i keep that on too for the past oe firmwares, but... i just wanted to give my UMD drive a break from spining around all the time... we all need a break right?! =)

in pursuit of prolonging its life. =)

but thanks for the input

x3sphere says:

Press SELECT in the XMB and switch the ISO mode to Sony NP9660. This is the new ISO driver Sony will be using soon for its downloadable games, it's compatible with everything :)

Doubleagent74: I'm assuming you tried placing the 1.5 homebrew in GAME150? It should work...

As for your other problem, try going to System Settings -> Restore Default Settings

Now try turning off UMD auto boot and see if the settings save.

Doubleagent74 says:

Yeah, I left my 1.5 homebrew in GAME150 and it still didn't work. I'm not as worried about the SNES emulator because I can d/l the new version with the 3.x kernel, but I'll double-check on Doom and make sure it's in the right place.

I'll try that when I get home. Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I'm stupid. I was looking in the Recovery menu for the UMD Autoboot and didn't realize it was in the XMB. It works now, and so does the new SNES emulator. No luck with Doom, though.

acegel says:

All Hail Dark Alex!!! God of the PSP!!! Thank you so much for your hard work. I am just amazed at how fast you guys work. You guys boggle the mind. Anyways, am on 3.52m33-4. Am thinking of upgrading to 3.71m33 with 1.50 update. First question, will I be able to play all my psx games? Saw in one of the threads that they were having a problem running them. Second, isn't location free player important? What about the Ptv and psp spot, do we really need those? Lastly, will all my homebrews work when I upgrade? Thanks guys. Keep up the good job!!!

Acerthief says:

by using the 1.5update, you won't need the eLoader anymore, and now it will function just like an normal custom firmware, so yes you may play homebrew, psx.

Location free player, ptv is really optional. some need extra fees to use.

like i use location free player sometimes (well my cousin does).

these functions differs, as some are only active in japan, some in USA.

It's different for everyone. :D

acegel says:

Thanks Acerthief. I am really considering shifting to 3.71m33 since the 1.50 update came out. Just waiting for more feed back. Thanks again.

RJC4LIFE says:

My PSP will be complete again when I can use IRshell again. I tried the 150 version, no luck.

ki2120 says:

hi guys! juz wanted to know what would you guys recommend? do i upgrade to 3.71? im sure you have used it? compared to 3.52 m33-4, is it better. im considering upgrading to it. tnx..

RJC4LIFE says:

In regards to Doom, try changing the speeds to 222 and using UMD required with a UMD, of course, and see if it works.(in the Game150 folder)

Don't ask me why...but I had a brew that wouldn't work no matter where I put it, but with these options enabled I accidentally clicked it's icon and it worked. WTF??

Now it works no matter what is enabled..oh yeah the custom firmware prx's where enabled as well.

And the brew wasn't Irshell..goes away sad.

Ibn19 says:

hey guys what is this add-on I just want to download it so that the gpsp will work. Is it safe or the psp might brick like the custom firmware thing. Pls answer

RJC4LIFE says:

The add on is the 150 kernel which alot of homebrew was written for and a requirement for some of those brews, although there is a HenD version of gpsp that will run in the 3xx kernel..The add on is safe so long as you read and follow the instructions..

Ibn19 says:

so its not as complicated as the update thingy right. I mean it shouldn't be plugged into the wall and charging, and it shouldn't be 75% at least charged right? Anyway thnks alot.I am going for it.

unklerks says:

Hi everyone, I just got into this moding stuff. Ive tried to download the Kernel 1.5 for 3.71 M33 from Dark-Alex...but when I extract the file I only get a txt file and no update folder. Is there something Im missing, of should I get it from another site?

Thanks alot

x3sphere says:

Download it from our servers:

http://exophase.com/files/psp/150kernel_addon2.rar

Remember you need the 150.PBP file in your memory stick root (X:/, where X is your memory stick drive letter).

It can be downloaded here: http://exophase.com/files/psp/150.PBP

unklerks says:

Thanks a ton x3sphere!!

I put the 150.PBP into a folder called "MP ROOT"...its the only root folder that shows up when I connect through usb....but I keep getting "incorrect or inexistent 150PBP at root" What am I doing wrong now?

Acerthief says:

Put the 150.PBP at the same place AS the MP_ROOT folder, not in it. :D

You can delete the MP_ROOT Folder, we use ms0:/VIDEO now. XD

and if the guide tells you to put the files in the folder that doesn't exsist, you can just make one :D

mcrhys2 says:

i doesn't work when i try to run it it say this file could not start up

Acerthief says:

What error code did you encounter?

and what firmware do you have? (It's kinda stupid but, yeah)

SKATERLORE says:

i have a 3.95 firmware i upgrade my fat psp in my wireless connection.. and my games iso and cso doesnt work... cant you please tell me how to downgrade my psp fat version...

please guys!!

SKATERLORE says:
