EA Announces Dead Space 2 ‘Severed’ DLC

by Mike Bendel on January 25, 2011 @ 9:52 am

With Dead Space 2 making its debut in retail stores today, EA is jumping early on the DLC bandwagon, announcing that a ‘Severed’ pack is coming soon. It’ll serve as a single player extension, chronicling two extra chapters.

Players assume the role of Gabe Weller, a security guard that works shifts at the Sprawl space station. He soon finds himself entangled in a string of horrific events. Pricing, along with release details, will be announced at a later date.

i don't really like where games are heading, what's next, DLC like this when the game is released?

El Diablo says:

A lot of games already do that = \.

slicer4ever says:

yea, but that's pre-orders of guns, or cloth's, not entire maps/campaign extension's

x3sphere says:

I have to agree, especially since the main draw of DS2 is single player. They should have held off a month or two, I don't see the point in announcing it this early.

Seth says:

This was posted on kotaku I found it interesting what your guys take on this. I think he brings up a valid point

slicer4ever says:

that doesn't mean they couldn't have held off a month or two before announcing it, the marketing team should have at least understood announcing campaign extension DLC to a game that is being released isn't ganna go over well with alot of people, rather or not they understand the process

Robby says:

I'm actually not bothered, I'll probably beat the game in a week, so less time for me to actually wait for new content.

Abe Froeman says:

I agree. I really don't care either way, but it is a straight up fleecing.

Seth says:

I feel they did the right move for me as well I beat the game this week and if the dlc came out a month later I probably download it but never get around to playing it. I did the same thing with red dead and a few other games I have the DLC waiting to be played but I been out of that world for so long that it really not that interesting in it any more.
