During today’s press conference in New York, Nintendo revealed that the Nintendo 3DS will retail for $249.99 on March 27th in the US. Meanwhile Europeans will be able to pick up the system a few days earlier on the 25th for a yet undisclosed price (HMV is suggesting £229.99). Reggie Fils-Aime explained that they are looking to launch more than 30 games during the launch window, which stretches from launch to E3 in June.

Some other good news came out of the presser with Reggie confirming that they will be using a friend code system but they are no longer unique for each game. You’ll be given one single friend code which will identify with your system. So while it’s an improvement upon the previous generation’s system, it still isn’t a huge departure from it.
