‘No Compromises’ for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 PC, Says Dev

In a franchise first, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will make its debut on multiple platforms in 2012. As the series has traditionally been somewhat of a technological showpiece on PC, some have wondered if this means GSC will be scaling back to fit the experience on consoles. The answer? A resounding no.

In a Q&A session lifted from GSC’s Facebook fan page, the dev confirms that ‘no compromises’ are being made for the PC edition of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Like Call of Pripyat before it, the upcoming installment will leverage DX11 with an all-new engine that is likely to stress the rigs of today.

Since we develop primarily on PC, you won’t see any compromises in the PC version. The key difference between the PC and console versions will be the beauty of graphics (meaning PC will offer more of visual effects).

GSC also reassures fans that in-game menus, such as the inventory interface, will not be ‘dumbed-down’ in the transition to multiple formats.

Sounds like they may be taking the same approach as what Crytek are claiming to take. Won't know for sure about either companies claims until the games are out though.

Aside from the supposed apocalypse? Yeah, it should.

Broodstar says:

The apocalypse isn't interesting? A few of us could end up playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for real.
