Iwata: Nintendo To Avoid Software Stagnation With 3DS

One of the oft-criticized aspects of most console and handheld launches is the post-launch stagnation of software titles. With the 3DS, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata wants to keep momentum rolling at a steady pace.  In a recent interview with the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper, translated by Andriasang, he says there will be less of a gap between key software releases this time around:

It’s important that you be able to supply software with no pause. With the DS and Wii, following the titles that were released at launch, the momentum dropped when there was a gap in software releases. We’re making plans so that this type of thing won’t happen.

That’s resounding news for early adopters. The 3DS launches next month in Japan, with a stateside debut planned for March.
