Silent Hill 8 Now Officially Known As ‘Silent Hill: Downpour’
by Mike Bendel on January 10, 2011 @ 11:27 am

Quietly announced earlier this year, Konami has given the eighth installment in its moody Silent Hill franchise an official moniker, dropping the numerical label in favor of a more descriptive title: Silent Hill: Downpour. Currently in development at Vatra Games, water will play a pivotal role in this entry, as you’ve likely already gleaned from the headline.
Players assume the role of Murphy Pendleton, a convict who finds himself stranded in Silent Hill after a prison transport order goes awry, leading to a freak accident. Mind-bending puzzles await Pendleton as he explores the inhabitants, along with horrific creatures and otherworld terrors.
It’s due out on PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year. Expect more details in the February issue of Game Informer.
