Microsoft Wants To ‘Relaunch’ PC Gaming With Windows 8

The revamped Games for Windows Live storefront is only a sneak peak into Microsoft’s plans for PC gaming, it seems. According to a TechRadar report, the Redmond-based software giant is gearing up to use Windows 8 as a conduit to ‘relaunch’ its presence as a major player in the PC gaming sector.

“Windows 8 will represent a real new push into PC gaming,” the source told TR. “Gaming will be a key component for the whole OS.”

While many would agree that Microsoft’s commitment to PC gaming has waned over the years, it’s clear the company is making strides to turn that mindset around, as the recent GFWL makeover has shown. Here’s hoping those types of initiatives continue with Windows 8. It’s certainly an opportune time to generate buzz and interest.

I really wish they would do away with Games for Windows Live. We don't need even more fragmentation on top of the existing platform choices (fragmentation in terms of games exclusive on Steam or GWL on top of console fragmentation)

Agreed. On the PC, Steam is more than enough.

I like Games for Windows Live and Steam...really wish they could integrate with each other (love the idea of my Xbox account integrated with PC games)

No thanks microsoft.

GFWL updates doesn't work 90% of the time.

as much as steam is good, their's always going to be other company's trying to push into that market, and tbh, i think GFWL has the overall best chance of doing it, can't wait to see what happens
