The latest Major Nelson podcast brings official word that the first Call of Duty Black Ops DLC pack, entitled First Strike, is due out February 1 on Xbox Live. Priced at 1200 MS Points, it’s a timed exclusive that ushers in four all-new maps, plus an additional zombie map.

Treyarch online director Dan Bunting sheds light on the design philosophies behind this map pack:

For DLC we really wanted to go bigger with some of the things we learned that people liked. The focus is on variety of weaponry, variety of engagement types, variety of verticality, [along with] bringing some sniper opportunities into it.

Further, he states that each map will feature “cool” scripted elements, back by popular demand. The four maps included are Stadium, Discovery, Kowloon, and Berlin Wall. The zombie map is known as Ascension. Beyond that, details are sparse right now, but expect Activision to dole out more information over the coming weeks.
