While it’s been nearly a decade since the ‘official’ demise of Sega’s Dreamcast, indie developers still haven’t given up on the system. German-based NG DEV is keeping the white wonder alive with their latest effort — Fast Striker 1.5.

Originally seen on NEOGEO, the title is a frantic bullet-hell shoot ’em up featuring sharp 2D visuals complemented with smooth-scrolling 3D backdrops. It boasts six stages across three separate difficulty modes — Original, Maniac, and Novice. The usual trimmings for fast-paced shooters such as high-score leaderboards — a constant 60 FPS — are all there.

Specific to the Dreamcast edition is a new mode dubbed OMAKE, which promises “enough depth to provide hundreds of hours playtime” with its elaborate scoring system.

For a closer look, check out the gameplay clip above. Available for pre-order, it’s due out on on December 21.
