PSGrade – Downgrade HEX Available Now

by Justin B. on December 7, 2010 @ 10:35 am

Update: Grab the associated HEX files here.

The team that brought our hacked PS3′s PSN access, PS3Yes, have just released a “downgrader” for PlayStation 3′s running firmware 3.50. The team has found a HEX key that will allow PS3 owners to downgrade using a compatible USB drive. Currently only the PS3Yes, Teensy++ 1.0/2.0 and AT90USB162 8mhz boards are compatible.

It is important to remind you that Sony just released firmware 3.55 which is not compatible with this downgrader.

What exactly is the point of downgrading? What benefit is there? I have not followed this at all.

FrozenIpaq says:

Downgrade to a firmware capable of running homebrew with the same device (a programmable USB drive that can execute unassigned code)
