Blizzard: We Lack Bandwidth for Warcraft IV

by Mike Bendel on December 7, 2010 @ 10:07 am

It’d be an understatement to say Blizzard is a busy company right now, especially for one with such a stringent vision on quality. They’re hammering away at two more StarCraft II expansions, numerous World of Warcraft updates, and of course Diablo III. Where does the next installment in its Warcraft franchise fit into this crowded picture?

According to Bliz, it’s been placed on the backburner, citing a lack of bandwidth.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm dev Greg Street delivered the news in a recent interview with Strategy Informer:

Well, the World of Warcraft team is busy on World of Warcraft, and we have an RTS team but they are busy with Starcraft II, we don’t right now have enough bandwidth to tackle something like that.

Looks like fans of the classic RTS are in for the long haul. It’s already been nine years since Warcraft III’s debut. But like any Blizzard title, it’ll undoubtedly be worth the wait.

depressing, but defiantly understandable, the amount of work going on at blizzard is quite a bit, although, at the same time, i'm sure they don't want to have anything competing against starcraft 2
