Homebrew developer pegasus2000 has released a proof of concept text-to-speech voice synthesizer for the PSP, dubbed Nanodesktop FLite Voice Synthesizer. According to the author, this feature will be available in the next full release of Nanodesktop, a shell replacement for the PSP.

ndFLite uses VFPU to increase the speed of voice synthesis. It uses
also Envelope Interface, a new API integrated in Nanodesktop 0.4
that ensures sound reproduction without glitches and MP3
reproduction with low use of CPU (Media Engine based).
