Steam Launches Massive Give & Get Sale

by Mike Bendel on November 24, 2010 @ 3:10 pm

Valve has put its own spin on Thanksgiving, launching a massive “Get & Get” sale on Steam. Through now till November 29, you can look forward to price reductions on a number of select titles. As usual, each day will usher in new time-limited deals.

The current crop of offerings include Borderlands for a paltry $10, Counter Strike: Source at $5, Shank for $10.04, and several others. There’s also a number of bulk deals. For just $40, you can nab 6 copies of Borderlands. Visit the Steam storefront for a complete breakdown.

Additionally, Valve will randomly pick from 30 Steam users each day throughout the course of the sale, filling their top 5 wishlist entries. Better get crackin’.

MenaceInc says:

Heh, the wishlist feature is awesome...I have 43 games on mine... :|

KezraPlanes says:

/me is making his wishlist

MenaceInc says:

Also, early Merry Christmas dude

EDIT: haha, fuck. I really should get some sleep...I sent ProfBurnt deus ex 1 and 2 as gifts... xD ah well, sending kezra them too

KezraPlanes says:

lolwut?

PR0fessor Burnt says:

He sent you a copy of the games as a gift

and thanks by the way even if it was a mistake which im guessing it is

Hardrive says:

Is this worth getting?

x3sphere says:

First Deus Ex is one of the best story-driven FPS games ever. It holds up well even today if you can look past the dated graphics.

KezraPlanes says:

Agreed and I've always dreamed of finishing both (I never did D:) as well as System Shock 2. Major thanks to MenaceInc for giving me both games :D I'll download and play them both this weekend!

Zero says:

You can also add unreleased titles to your wish list, so you can add Portal 2 and the new Deus Ex as well.

Just remember, if you do win, it's the top 5 you get. But you need 10 items to qualify.

MenaceInc says:

good, I have 43

Torchlight is £3.75....get it everyone, it is awesome :D

If you're worried about your PC not being powerful enough as well, it runs even on my MSI Wind clone netbook

x3sphere says:

So far I've picked up Shank. It's a great brawler, reminds me of a cross between Double Dragon and Streets of Rage.

El Diablo says:

I wish torchlight has a multiplayer aspect to it :(.

MenaceInc says:

It will

PR0fessor Burnt says:

I cant wait for torchlight 2

MenaceInc says:

As far as I know, the MMO aspect is being added into Torchlight for free, not as a separate game. Torchlight 2 though introduces more classes and co-op designed missions I think

PR0fessor Burnt says:

I know its just torchlight 2 is coming before the mmo iirc

TeamOverload says:

Grabbed Torchlight earlier. Just finally was able to download it though, Steam's servers were not cooperating well with me earlier in the day. You all seem to have enjoyed it and for $5 can't really go wrong.

Slightly OT: Thinking about picking up Super Meat Boy, any of you here played the 360 version? Worth it? It's at $9.99 right now for the pre-order.

MenaceInc says:

Got it on 360 and 100%'d the Light World, it is an AWESOME game. HOWEVER, I seriously recommend you play with a controller so would have to recommend the 360 version over the PC (unless you have a wired 360 controller or better).

TeamOverload says:

Don't have my 360 anymore, but I do plan on picking one up again at some point, so I may just wait for that then. Thanks for the feedback.

Adiuvo says:

Wings of Prey looks really tempting but people are raving about it having 'Starforce' DRM. Anyone have any issues with Starforce? So far I'm just chalking it up to hyperbole like the situation with SecuROM.

MenaceInc says:

planning on getting CoD4, the Indie pulse pack, Supreme Commander 2 and GTA4:EFLC :D

Adiuvo says:

When you get SupCom2 ES, you, and I all need to start up a game. We haven't played it for about three months.

Zero says:

StarForce has a way worse reputation compared to SecuROM. I've only myself used SecuROM, so this is just what I've heard.

This may be interesting, but take it with a grain of salt.

x3sphere says:

Riddick has Starforce and I haven't had any issues, though there are plenty of horror stories on it. It seems to be problematic when you have any type of virtual drive software installed like Daemon Tools.

Shame companies are still using these intrusive types of DRM. Steam alone does the job well enough.
