3DMark 2011 Benchmarking Suite Drops November 30

Futuremark announced today that the next iteration of its widely-used PC hardware benchmarking suite — 3DMark 2011 — will release on November 30. This time around, the included benchmark demos place a heavy focus on DX11-specific rendering effects, such as tessellation and volumetric lighting.

For consumer use, the suite comes in two flavors, a basic and advanced variant. The latter, available for pre-order now at $19.95, is more robust with several built-in benchmark presets. Additionally, users can store an unlimited amount of performance test runs online at Futuremark’s site and compare results with other rigs.

Check out a preview trailer of the “Deep Sea” scene above, which shows off lush jungles and spectacular below sea-level sights. Granted, there’s no denying that these sequences look jaw-dropping, but we’d rather shell out dough for actual games that push the boundaries of tech a la Shattered Horizon.
