SCEA just announced that Gran Turismo 5 will be reaching store shelves on November 24th of this month following a delay from its original November 4th date. One of the PS3′s most elusive titles will finally be in our hands at the end of this month, in plenty of time for the holiday season.

The Most Highly Anticipated Racing Game Will Be In Your Hands Beginning Wednesday, November 24

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Nov. 12, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Sony Computer Entertainment America, LLC (SCEA) today confirmed that Gran Turismo® 5 will go on sale throughout North America on Wednesday, November 24.

“Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program!” commented Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc. “When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed.”

In Gran Turismo 5, you can tackle the world’s most famous racetracks, rendered in high-definition that is as vivid as the real thing, and get behind the wheel of some of the most legendary cars in motor racing from past to cutting-edge present.  An impressive line-up of over 1,000 in-game cars will be featured, including the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, the Lexus LFA and the McLaren MP4-12C.  Players will also go head-to-head on famous legacy circuits such as Autumn Ring, Deep Forest Raceway, and the Grand Valley Speedway, in addition to renowned real-life circuits such as Nurburgring and the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Andy says:

Why not put the release date in the title?

I really want a PS3 now, just for this game.

FrozenIpaq says:

Because it's in the first line of the article... and it didn't really come as a surprise to me - if it was sometime in December than maybe I would've put it in the title

TeamOverload says:

I actually am surprised that it's so soon. Usually release dates don't get announced this close to a game coming out, and when they couldn't even confirm it would be before Christmas just a couple of weeks ago, this is surprising. Nice to see it being released, not just to find out if I get it or not. I have Hot Pursuit pre-ordered so that should fill my racing tastes for a while, meaning this will have to wait.

Brad says:

Awesome! Was reading over at neogaf that this was the speculated date for the last few weeks. Glad its confirmed

Zero says:

Wow, finally.

El Diablo says:

I'm going to laugh if it isn't as good as it's supposed to be :P.

january39 says:

The bar has been set high for this game, and they have had long enough to get it right - hopefully it will not be as bad as the PSP version.

gmansixfo says:

About damn time! This game better meet at least half of my expectations.
