The NPD Group has released the hardware and software sales charts for August and once again, Nintendo has came out on top. Total Wii and DS hardware sales surpassed that of the PlayStation 3, PS2, and PSP combined.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 by more than 2:1. Software sales weren’t too shabby either, with the sales monster that is Madden NFL 08 pushing 896.6K units, even more than the PS2 version.
