Mikami’s Next Project Under Tango Will Mark His Last As Director

Resident Evil and Vanquish creator Shinji Mikami has told Famitsu that his next project for Tango, now under the Bethesda umbrella, will mark his last effort as director. Mikami is drifting away from the creative spotlight to handle managerial duties. In the long run, he feels that juggling demands would not be a wise decision and wants to give up-and-coming talent a chance.

“I can only last for so long handling both director and company president duties, and besides, I want to give our younger developers a chance,” noted Mikami in a Famitsu piece translated by 1UP.

“Knowing that, of course, makes me want to put all of my experience, my energy, and everything else I’ve got into this game. I’m pretty lucky that [Bethesda] was willing to accept that, too. Too many publishers are only interested in the very near future, after all.”

Bethesda parent ZeniMax announced its acquisition of Tango last month. No indication has been given as to when we’ll see the studio’s first project. Given Mikami is still assembling a team, we reckon any reveals are a way’s off.

I think you've missed the word 'give' on the last line. Just giving you a heads up.
