Crytek May Revisit TimeSplitters Universe

Shortly following Crytek’s acquisition of UK-based developer Free Radical, the studio has remained mum on plans for its satire heavy TimeSplitters universe, despite the fact that a fourth installment was announced way back in 2007. Although that project has since been put on hold, Crytek UK is reportedly still mulling over the idea of a comeback, company managing director Karl Hilton has revealed to Eurogamer:
We’re talking to publishers at the moment about whether that’s [TimeSplitters] a viable route or not.
And therein lies the rub. Hilton added that the company remains undecided over whether to stick with TimeSplitters or create a new IP altogether. For the time being, Crytek is polling interest from publishers, so as to make a firm decision in regards to direction.
With the influx of franchise reboots as of late, now seems like an opportune time to bring back TimeSplitters. Here’s hoping that Crytek finds a publisher that will back it.
