35 Laid Off At IO Interactive, Project Canned

IO Interactive, the Square Enix-owned studio behind Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days and the Hitman franchise, was reportedly hit with a string of layoffs today.

3D Realms boss George Broussard broke word in a tweet that as many as 35 jobs were made redundant. An unspecified, in-development project has also been canned as a result, according to Broussard.

Here’s hoping that project isn’t the eternally-rumored Hitman 5, interest in which has been picking up steam as of late. Agent 47 voice actor David Bateson recently gushed praise over the yet-to-be announced installment, calling it “gob-smacking.”

My guess is its the failed attempt at continuing the K&L. They might as well bury that dead dog (lolgetit... dog days) now no thanks to them.

Trigun says:

They weren't bad games by any means IMO. They were actually a lot of fun. Most people just seem to react to the unusual characters and storyline.

It's a shame

Josey Wales says:

K&L 1 was a great game, the sequel was terrible - I dont know what they were going for but they completely failed from what I understand

Trigun says:

I liked the second one a ton more than the first. *shrug* guess it boils down to tastes.
