Wal-Mart Listing Outs Special Edition Mario DSi XL for US

A retail listing from Wal-Mart has outed Nintendo’s plans to release a special edition DSi XL variant in celebration of Mario’s 25th anniversary. While Nintendo is paying tribute its iconic plumber in Europe and Japan with a snazzy Wii and DS bundle, the company’s North American division has not yet jumped on the bandwagon, at least not officially.
The product box shot on Wal-Mart, as pictured above, certainly looks convincing enough – leading us to believe that an announcement is a matter of when, not if. Included is a red DSi unit with minimalistic decals that depict power-ups featured in the original Mario. The bonus contents, however, differ from that of other regions. A copy of Mario Kart DS is included, along with pre-installed DSiWare titles Brain Age Express and Photo Clock.
Priced at $199.99, Wal-Mart is also offering a choice of two “value titles” from a list of 17, a deal which we’ll assume is vendor-specific. We’ll update once Nintendo is ready to break the silence.
