PlayStation Move Shifts 1.5 Million In Europe

Sony’s PlayStation Move peripheral is off to a brisk start, at least in Europe. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Andrew House dropped word in a recent Bloomberg interview that sales of the wand-like device across SCEE territories are “somewhere in the region of 1.5 million units.”
The momentum has far exceeded Sony’s forecast and as a result, the company intends to ramp up production. “The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we’ll probably be looking at accelerating production,” added House.
At 1.5 million units sold in Europe alone, this certainly sets the bar high for Microsoft’s upcoming entry into the motion space with Kinect. What remains to be seen, is how Move performed domestically. SCEA has yet to divulge sales numbers.
