Crysis 2 XBL Multiplayer Beta Invites Trickle Out

As brought to light by community member ilyace on our forums, developer Crytek has begun sending out invites to a multiplayer-oriented beta test for Crysis 2. Here’s a snip from the email sent out earlier this morning:

As part of our continuing Crysis 2 development we will be performing a multiplayer test starting very soon. For this test we will be inviting various community members to take part and help us push the game to its limits so we can make any adjustments necessary and ensure that we deliver the gameplay experience we know everyone wants to see!

The test is Xbox 360 only “this time around.” Likewise, participants must have an XBL Gold account.

Missed out? Don’t despair. In an ongoing discussion thread over at the company’s official forums, Crytek staffer Cry-Lee notes that this initiative is a closed MP test event, essentially calling it a “stress test” to gauge server performance under heavy load. It’s also separate from the beta opportunity we broke word about last June. Those that signed-up during the relaunch of MyCrysis still have a shot at being included in future tests.

Crysis 2 is due out March 22 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
