Square Enix Debuts Crysta Currency System Tomorrow

Tomorrow’s release of Final Fantasy XIV on PC will signal the arrival of an online payment system Square Enix calls “Crysta” in North America and Europe.
Already available for select Square Enix services in Japan, those purchasing Final Fantasy XIV subscriptions and security tokens can do so by converting cash money via means of credit or prepaid debit cards into Crysta. This, by extension, comes with the added security benefit of not having to keep your payment details on file.
According to Square Enix’s virtual exchange rate, $1 equals 100 Crysta. The currency can be purchased in blocks of $5, $10, $20, $30, $50 and $100. Some may gawk at the thought of yet another currency system, but it’s straightforward enough, we’d say.
“With Crysta, Square Enix continues our dedication to protecting and serving our customers,” said Square Enix president and CEO Mike Fischer. “We’re extremely pleased to be offering this new service in conjunction with the launch of Final Fantasy XIV, offering fans a secure and simple method to manage their subscriptions.”
