Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Heads Stateside In 2011

by Mike Bendel on September 21, 2010 @ 12:37 pm

The follow-up to Square Enix’s unmistakable brawler Dissidia: Final Fantasy, entitled Dissidia 012 [duodecim], will hit North America and Europe later next year.

Once again developed exclusively for PSP, this mashup expands on the original with “new game modes, story missions, items, alternate costumes and combat features.” Familiar faces like Kain (FFIV) and Lightning (FFXIII) will step into the ring for the first time in Dissidia 012. Also promised is an all-new “Assist” mechanic that allows players to enlist characters as back-up support in combat, as well as an additional Chaos storyline.

For those unaware, the “duodecim” bit means 12th in Latin, referring to the 12th battle between Cosmos and Chaos. Look forward to more character reveals during the coming months.

I did'nt really like the first one on PSP although i know that loads of people love it.

MenaceInc says:

Don't let Adiuvo hear you speak that blasphemy! :P

I really freaking liked the first game. Beat it with all but 3 characters (from FF4, 5 and 9 I think).

Only 100%'d Cloud though.

Adiuvo says:

!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm beyond excited for this one. In the last one I got into the competitive scene a bit and did alright, but with this one I plan on joining at least one DissidaForum related tournament. SE better keep all the characters.

KezraPlanes says:

I would prefer this on the PS3, but I'll take it anyway I can get it.

Bring it on!

Abe Froeman says:

I hate reading this game's name.

KezraPlanes says:

Seconded. It just sounds stupid.

Adiuvo says:

I hope it won't end up being referred to as Duodecim. That'll get annoying rather quickly.

MenaceInc says:

I'll just be calling it Dissidia 2.

x3sphere says:

The title is quite a mouthful.. not sure what S-E was thinking. It's hardly clever.
