PS3 Toolchain ready and available for download

by KezraPlanes on September 8, 2010 @ 4:13 am

Developer ooPo just tweeted that he has released a toolchain for opensource homebrew development on the PS3. This is what homebrew fans have been patiently waiting for since the release the console was “jailbroken”.

Hopefully this is the first step of the growth of a legitimate PS3 homebrew scene, free from the ghosts of piracy that have been in the air since the release of the PS3 Jailbreak tool. The files for setting up the toolchain are available here.

Definitaly a step in the totally right direction.

I hope it will grow to support more and more of the PS3's API and we need some more additional tools, to pack up the HBs to be able to be installed nicely and easiely and all....

I think it will come.... just like it did on the PSP, it will come, just give it some time :)

Now this is true homebrew :) Glad to see the toolchain finally coming together, even though it's still very early. The reliance on leaked SDK material only stifles development.

Yeah, things start comming together, someone else on LAN mentioned he's already working on a .PKG tool.

Now we need to stop Sony patching things xD
