Gearbox Picks Up Duke Nukem Forever Development, Slated for 2011 Release

The rumors were true after all: Duke Nukem Forever is no longer stuck in limbo, as Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford has confirmed that the company has indeed signed on to finish development. The title is slated for a 2011 release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
Duke’s crude and witty one-liners are poised to make a comeback. Bits from a VG247 report describe a trailer that was shown behind closed doors at PAX:
In a short movie, the Duke was shown lighting a cigar, saying he’d “hit” a monster with tits and “taking a piss in the John,” according to VG247’s Steph Nunneley, who was one of a handful of journalists to see the game in Seattle this morning.
With 3DRealms no longer involved, let’s hope that the delay curse doesn’t strike again. In all fairness, though, Gearbox has a solid track-record with hits like Borderlands behind its belt. It’s in good hands.
