PS3 SDK 1.80 Allows Devs To Add Custom Soundtracks To Games

Inner Bits is reporting that the new PS3 SDK 1.80 which was recently sent out to certified developers is chock full of features. First being a new music utility, which allows developers to give gamers the choice of streaming their own music in game. The only downside is that the utility requires a considerable memory footprint — 12MB, however it’s assumed to be reduced in future revisions of the SDK.

Second is a new system that has been added to allow developers to use a PSP system as an additional display to their game.

Third is another utility, which will allow developers to export any pictures, such as screen shots, to a players photo profile.

Those are some neat features and what’s also nice for developers is that the core memory and graphic memory footprints have been reduced from 52MB to 48MB and 32MB to 24MB, respectively.

Intresting news, the screenshots and PSP specifics sound really cool. I wonder what they'll (Devs) come up with for the PSP with this? I like the in game music bit but mostly for racing games, for me at least, kinda like the Nirvana song in Motorstorm. A game like that would be better if I could use songs of my own.
