IO Interactive’s brutal crime shooter sequel Kane & Lynch 2 is receiving the Steam treatment, with Valve announcing today that all copies of the game — including those sold at retail — will leverage Steamworks. Gamers can reap the benefits through built-in auto-updating, matchmaking, Steam Achievements, stats and leaderboards.

Additionally, publisher Square Enix is offering up a promotional incentive in the form of a 10 percent discount for those who pre-order early on Steam, which brings the total damage down to $44.99.

Kane & Lynch 2 hits PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 later this August.
