Ubisoft Announces Russia Set Assassin’s Creed Comic Book

Ubisoft today announced plans to expand on the lore in its ever-growing Assassin’s Creed universe with a comic book mini-series scheduled to release this fall. Developed through Ubisoft Montreal’s UbiWorkshop initiative by illustrators Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl, the project is set to be unveiled during a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con on July 22.

Featured panelists include Stewart and Kerschl, along with Jeffrey Johalem, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood video game scriptwriter.

“We always thought that the Assassin’s Creed universe would be perfect for transmedia initiatives like this new comic series,” said Mathieu Ferland, transmedia senior producer at Ubisoft Montreal.  “We are excited to have the fantastic and acclaimed artists Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl working on the project.  Ubisoft is looking forward to showing Assassin’s Creed fans what these talented artists have been up to at next week’s Comic-Con panel.”

Deets are scant on the actual comic, aside from the fact that it is set in a 20th century Russia. Look forward to more information at Comic Con. A brief teaser done in the style of a black-and-white film reel can be found below.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be July 22nd, weird Kotaku made the same mistake.

Either way, sounds interesting.

x3sphere says:

Yeah it is July 22, fixed - no idea why I put June.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this. Assassin's Creed should translate well to a comic book.
