Kojima Not Ruling Out Peace Walker PS3 Port

We’ve seen numerous triple-A PSP hits make their way to home consoles over the years. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories jumping ship to PS2 was the first of many. Might Solid Snake’s latest outing, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, receive the port treatment as well?

Naturally, as the title was designed from the ground-up with the PSP in mind, series producer Hideo Kojima has no plans to port it. At the same time, however, he is considering the possibility. In a recent interview with French site JeuxVideo, the mastermind behind MGS noted his intention of adding “more depth” to the underlying plot if he was tasked with doing a console conversion:

I can not say I’ll do a direct conversion of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PlayStation 3. However, this game was a challenge in terms of its development on the PSP for me and I probably will preserve the base of it. And if I had to port it to another console, I would add even more depth to the story.

With a few tweaks here and there, we think the experience would lend itself well to consoles. That said, if you are teetering on the edge of a PSP purchase to play Peace Walker, I’d pick one up without hesitation right now. Waiting around for a mythical port that may or may not happen isn’t healthy.
